How to prepare Chamomile tea for sleeping well

How many of you prepare a chamomile tea before going to sleep to promote rest? It is one of the most deeply rooted habits and in every family there is or has been a grandmother who made us a warm chamomile before going to bed.

And even today, when the temperatures drop and fall in the evening, we usually prepare a chamomile tea after dinner or before going to bed.

Chamomile is recognized as one of the most used remedies for sleeping, certainly the most widespread that never fails in our homes. What we have always been told is: a warm chamomile tea for sleeping is the ideal remedy. It has no contraindications and stimulates sleep. But is it really so?

The truth about chamomile tea: is it good for sleep?

Chamomile is one of the most common plants, it grows spontaneously and has been cultivated for a very long time. Harvested and dried, the flowers are used. What are the effects of chamomile tea? Is it really effective for sleeping?

In reality, what we don’t know and are not told is that preparing a chamomile tea and drinking it before going to bed is not the easiest business in the world. Or rather, you need to know how to prepare it to achieve the desired effect.

Those who take chamomile tea for sleep do it to encourage sleep, to improve it and to induce greater relaxation. So, knowing how to prepare it makes the difference! Chamomile is the plant that relaxes par excellence, but how? Depending on how it is prepared, it will give one result rather than another.

How to make chamomile tea for sleep

At this point we will ask ourselves: and what should we do to prepare a chamomile? Isn’t it enough to boil the water and infuse the chamomile tea bag? No, it is not enough and it is soon said why. Chamomile, like many other natural remedies, has specific healing properties and you need to know how to use them.

First, the infusion water must be brought to a boil. When the water boils it should not be poured directly on the chamomile (loose or in sachet) but the opposite. First you put the water and then you immerse the chamomile.

The most important aspect, however, concerns the infusion times. The chamomile used for sleeping should not exceed two to three minutes of infusionAfter this time, the chamomile begins to release an excess of substances that produce an effect opposite to what you want to achieve, that is, exciting! This is why infusion times are the key to making a good chamomile tea for a good night’s sleep.

Dip the chamomile in boiling water, mix and let it rest for about two to three minutes, no more, then strain immediately and drink the still hot drink. We can also add a splash of fresh lemon juice to make it even more pleasant.

The use of the raw material is also important, as is the infusion time. The parts with the most active principle are the flowers and a good chamomile, it must be prepared especially with these.

It is also better to choose loose chamomile and not in sachets: this is because in sachets it is not always guaranteed to find the best parts of the plant in high concentration, while in bulk it is possible to check the quality of the raw material. In optimal conditions, the complete flower heads of the plant must be seen.
